This week I was given the opportunity to take over the Manayunkdotcom’s instagram account. The idea behind having locals and residents takeover their account is to allow a unique perspective of each individuals love and life in the Manayunk area. I was beyond ecstatic to have my chance to show my new love for bringing beauty to the mundane through photos. I have been going around Manayunk being a weird tourist-like person, take photos whenever I can. My friends and roommate automatically know that “Oh camera is coming out” when we pass something that they know I will find interesting.
I have found a sort of peace in taking pictures lately. I regret not taking photography classes in college. I’ve been using my iPhone and editing the photos with apps, but I also have recently acquired an analog camera, which I am excited to be teaching myself how to work. I also am investing in a DSLR- or should I say my parents are getting me an early-ish Christmas present.
I wanted to share the photos from the Manayunk Takeover. I truly love this area that I now am happy to call home (for the time being). It is great that I am in a big city, yet have this small town feel. Manayunk is a beautiful place with so many shops, restaurants and fitness studios. I find somewhere new I want to try every time I am one Main Street. So without further ado, here are my photos and a description with each.
I was really proud of myself for being able to participate and show the things I have come to enjoy about this area. There are so many other parts, but this was what I saw that week.
